NESSC Exchange Program

What?

The exchange program is to promote and stimulate the exchange and interaction of NESSC researchers with international groups.

Who can apply?

NESSC scientists: PI’s, co-applicants, daily supervisors, post-doctoral fellows and PhD students. Any NESSC scientist can be supported via the NESSC exchange program.

What can be applied for?

The exchange program is intended to stimulate the interaction of individual NESSC scientists with international groups. The exchange program offers funding to visit foreign centres of excellence and or laboratories with infrastructure, equipment or expertise, that are not available within the consortium itself.

Eligible costs:

  • Travel costs (based on 2nd class/economy class) – actual costs will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 1300 for non-European visits and 600 for European visits.
  • Accommodation and subsistence costs
    • For short visits < 1 month: per diem – maximum 120 euros per day – with a maximum of 1700 euros in total
    • For visits between 1-3 months: per month – maximum 1700 euros per month

Please note *the exchange program is not meant for congress/symposia visits, these visits should be covered from the travel money allocated within your research program; *research costs are non-eligible costs. The sum awarded is the maximum amount that can be claimed.

Duration of the stay?

One week up to 3 months.

How?

Requests to participate in the exchange program should be submitted via email (info@nessc.nl) via the request application form*. Please note that you should submit your request at least 1 month before the intended travel, taking into account the submission deadline** . Requests will be discussed in the Scientific Steering Committee meetings. Ranking and selection of individual requests will be done by the Scientific Steering Committee

*Your request should include a letter from the host-institute stating that they are willing to host you as visitor.

**E.g. If you are planning a visit in the month of the submission deadline, you should submit your request one round earlier.

Outcome of the decision?

You will be informed of the decision a maximum of two weeks after the submission deadline.
